Secondary Dual Language Immersion

The Secondary Dual Language Immersion Hub at Western Washington University provides resources, professional development, and community for secondary dual language and immersion educators, program administrators, and researchers. 

Current Hub resources include Spanish dual language/immersion (DLI) curricular units that exemplify content and language integration; a material use self-reflection tool for secondary DLI educators, and a bibliography of research on secondary DLI education. These materials were originally created between 2022-2026 for a Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition (CARLA) initiative on Secondary Dual Language Immersion.

Future offerings will include virtual workshops and institutes tailored to the specific needs of secondary DLI teachers and administrators. The Hub will also create a secondary DLI newsletter as well as facilitating national networking opportunities for secondary DLI stakeholders.

The Secondary Dual Language Hub is directed by Dr. Cory Mathieu, Assistant Professor of Multilingual Education at Western Washington University.
